Most hated it when food was coveted proved to be stale even before it got eaten. Is not there a way to make food more long-standing so it can be enjoyed?
There. Some people found a way to preserve food freshness and make more long-standing. This of course also makes age consumption becoming longer. There are several ways that make sense, some are not. And some ways this is a unique way some people used to preserve food.
It feels terrible to imagine burying food then one day he unloaded from ‘grave’ and eat it. However, this method is still used today and is practiced in Korea know.
Is a way of preserving foods passed down by ancestors Kimchi Korea in order to stay fresh longer and age consumption. Initially, the land provided to bury kimchi salted or frozen, making it warm and dark place.
Then, kimchi jars put into dirt that protects from dust, light and oxygen can alter food. Left for several months, kimchipun eventually be consumed and stored in the fridge or cupboard to be enjoyed not just a day.
Remember how to manufacture salted fish? Yes, that’s right. By drying in the sun. Reportedly, meat drying in the sun after being given some of the material will make it dry naturally and automatically preserved. This food can then be consumed for some time due to decay very long walk.
Usually the food is processed in this way is bananas for sale, and meat or fish.
Using a technique Lye
Itself is a kind of alkaline lye whose function is similar to that used soap to dry clean or cleaner. When consumed immediately Lye is very toxic and dangerous, but Lye can be used to preserve food.
When combined with fat, it will react by starting the process of saponification. These reactions can usually change the texture, aroma and taste of the food, but will age much longer.
Not everyone should and can use Lye. And only a few foods that can be processed by Lye as changes they experienced.
Confit method is a method to cut her off oxygen so slow decay that occurs in food. Usually the food will be cooled and sealed in a container.
Aspic is a method of preserving food with a texture similar chemicals similar to jelly. When applied to food, it will wrap around and be absorbed by the food and protect food from oxidation. Food will remain durable for longer.
Today, there are many ways a more modern food preservation. Even so, some food preservation methods above are still used.
Is there a way of preserving foods typical of the territory?
A barista is an interesting profession very suitable for socially-minded people who like to talk, meet people, listen to stories and enjoy the memories of special “coffee moments.” One of these special memories is the story of a cup of Kopi Luwak coffee that a coffee patron shared with a barista friend.
The coffee patron was very specific in his order of genuine gourmet Sumatra Mandheling coffee. He sighed at the absence of Kopi Luwak on the coffee menu. Kopi Luwak is among the most expensive coffees in the world. For this reason, it is not something a coffee shop would feature for regular consumption.
However, the coffee patron said to the barista, “…you realize how delicious coffee really is when you taste a cup of genuine Kopi Luwak coffee as I did during my travels in Sumatra. It is a paradox to learn that a Paradoxurus or “Luwak,” basically a little mammal that goes unnoticed and is not very beautiful, produces “animal coffee” for which humans pay hundreds of dollars per pound! Sumatran locals call the little mammals “Luwak.” Paradoxurus is their scientific name more fitting for the high priced coffee droppings collected to make this marvelous coffee. These animals live in the trees in Sumatra. One of their favorite foods is red, ripe coffee cherries. Interestingly, they eat the cherries, bean, everything. Once the coffee cherries get to their stomach, the animal’s body produces enzymes and gastric juices that process the beans.
A scientist from the University of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, Doctor Massimo Marcone, ran scientific tests on Kopi Luwak coffee. This scientist proved that proteolytic enzymes penetrated into all the “Luwak” beans. This is what causes substantial breakdown of storage proteins and reduces the caffeine level in this special coffee. Apparently, these animal enzymes prevent bitter taste and caffeine jitters. The “Luwak’s” stomach is almost like a natural “coffee mill.” When the beans exit through the animal’s digestive system, the beans are still intact.
The animals move primarily at night. They creep along the branches of coffee trees. The animals sniff the coffee cherries and pick only the reddest and tastiest ones. They chew the exterior of the cherry but swallow the whole beans. Amazing to think there are Kopi Luwak farmers who follow these creatures through the Sumatran forests. The beans stay in the animals’ stomachs for about 36 hours before they come out. The farmers are familiar with the “Luwak” territory so they scour the grounds for animal droppings to collect. The farmers clean the beans thoroughly. Then they can roast the beans and grind them just like any other coffee. Funny to think that the origin designation for this coffee is “Kopi Luwak.” The price tag is a high one but worth every sip!…”
The barista nodded and the coffee patron continued. “…Aah! Kopi Luwak coffee: rich and strong aroma. Full bodied like no other coffee, almost “syrupy” and with a hint of chocolate taste. It is coffee that lingers on the tongue with hints of malt coffee. A shame the production is so low, only about 500 pounds per year. But you know, it is not the only fruit digested by an animal, excreted and then collected for human consumption as a pricey drink. There are others….”
The barista said, “Really, did not know that.” The coffee patron replied, while taking his last sip of Mandheling gourmet coffee, “…In Brazil, they have Jacu Bird Coffee. In Vietnam, the weasel is what produces Weasel Coffee. I find “Luwaks” prettier than weasels, don’t you? In the Philippines, the ‘civet” (a “Luwak” by another name) produces Kape Alamid Coffee. I could go on and tell you about the Argan oil story, a tale of nuts and tree climbing goats from Morocco. But, it is late and I need to go. By the way, the Sumatra Mandheling coffee was great!…”
Yes, genuine gourmet Mandheling Coffee tastes great and it is available for the asking. Go ahead; treat yourself to a cup of this delicious specialty coffee!
With all the new and controversial pet food recalls, it is no wonder that pet owners have preferred making homemade dog food for their pet animals in lieu of commercial and, quite possibly, bad dog food and cat food considered as contaminated. So what’s all the fuss about? What unlikely result can bad contaminated dog food do to your pet dog, and more importantly, what can you do keep it from happening? Just what are in these supposedly good dog food that has got pet owners in an uproar?
We humans are discouraged from consuming too much canned goods for various health reasons. The same holds true for dogs.
Moist dog food is packed in cans. You can just think of all the harmful ingredients injected into the dog food package, mostly to bring a good taste, enhance palatability, and even improve appearance.
What’s truly disconcerting is the fact that animal by-products, the main components of pet food, are already bombarded with chemicals long before they reach the processing plant. So even if the can’s label tells you otherwise, there’s really nothing like a ‘No Preservatives’ guarantee.
Dry dog food is even worse. And because canning in itself is already a preserving process, moist dog food contains less of the contaminated materials used to prolong shelf life compared with its dry counterpart.
Another problem is the ingredients themselves, usually meat, poultry, and grains. Any part which is not good for human consumption, such as innards, blood, and bones, make up the by-products that are ground and blended into what we know as commercial pet food. In reality, they are bad dog food.
The thing is, it is not always slaughtered animals that make their way into these meals, but oftentimes, unhealthy meat of farm animals are included also. And the drugs and bacteria, like Salmonella and Escherichia coli, thriving in these meats do not always die during product making, which incidentally, destroys much of the nutritional content as well.
Furthermore, when moldy grain is thrown in, as well as all the other synthetic and unnatural additives the numbers of which are too many to count with both hands, you then have a lethal canine cocktail. It doesn’t take a genuine nutritionist to know that this spells disaster for the end user, i.e., innocent little Fido.
Injurious outcome of bad dog food include vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite. But that’s just for starters. The more dangerous toxins, like cf1 butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), and ethoxyquin, which are all permitted in small doses, can cause cancer, organ failure, and ultimately, death when ingested after sometime.
So what can you, the dog owner, do about all this? Voice your concerns. Call pet food manufacturers and demand for better quality products so you get your money’s worth. Better yet, try making your own homemade dog food. At least then, you can be sure about what your loving dog is actually eating. If you have any doubts on the food you’re feeding your dog, consult your veterinarian immediately.
PEELING onions like annoying, when you peel it then guaranteed to be dripping with spicy hot because the air that comes from the onions are very sharp. Now, there are ways to overcome them!
Well, do not let your eyes sore when peeling onions so it’s good to pay attention to the following four so while peeling onions became more enjoy:
Light a candle near the cutting board while peeling onions, because of the heat of the candle will attract sulfur compounds of garlic so that it will stay away from your eyes
With large wind power it will make the heat from the onion will disappear and your eyes while peeling onions will no longer sore.
With peeling or cutting onions under running water or in a water bath it will make your eyes sore so no, this is because the water will dissolve the sulfur compounds contained in onions before finally making you shed tears. So, while peeling onions will do lah frequently dipping your knife into the water.
Before peeling the onion so it’s good to first cool the onions for 30 minutes before being cut or peeled, or freeze for 10 to 15 minutes all depends on the size of onions are used. This will make the cells of the onion will react more slowly because of the cold air coming into the onions when cut.
Sometimes we all probably feel like we are walking through a nutrition mine field. What one person or organization calls healthy is deemed unhealthy or even deadly by another. So what is a person to do when faced with the idea of trying to improve food choices in order to achieve a healthy fit body?
Luckily there are a few things that we are absolutely certain of and these things are the focus of this article. There are a lot of everyday, common foods and food storage items that most people don’t give a second thought, but that in actuality could seriously affect their overall health and quality of life.
This first unhealthy substance isn’t actually a food, but it is something we commonly store foods in. Even health food stores sometimes place their “healthy” food in containers made of this cancer-linked substance. In June 2011, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released a report saying that styrene has a high probability of causing cancer. Now, given the fact that I’ve been in the fitness industry for quite some time, this is not news to me, but perhaps it is to you. Styrene is everywhere and it’s a challenge to avoid it. Here are some very common products containing this potentially cancer-causing substance.
- Styrofoam cups and plates
- To-go boxes from restaurants
- Foam packing material
- Industrial emissions
- Second-hand cigarette smoke
- Floor waxes
- Paints and varnishes
Fortunately for us wisdom is power in this case. There are very simple alternatives to styrene these days and glass food and liquid containers are your best bet for ensuring the things you put in your body are not contaminated with unwanted and in some cases, deadly ingredients.
A second potentially harmful issue surrounds farm raised salmon (tilapia also). When we think of salmon we think of a beautiful vibrant fish leaping over small water falls in order to spawn, you know, just like we see on the Discovery Channel. Well, this isn’t the reality for farm raised salmon. Instead envision tiny ponds densely packed with fish that have never felt a day of freedom. If this doesn’t make you feel uneasy, the rest of the story will. Farm raised salmon are malnourished due to the fact that they are fed cheap sources of food in order to keep costs at a minimum.
Feathers are a staple in the farm raised salmon’s diet because it’s a cheap source of protein. Because they are so poorly fed, their skin is a drab shade of gray. Since this wouldn’t sell very well, these farm raised salmon are injected with the colorant Canthaxanthin in order to produce that healthy-looking pink color. Farmed salmon contain much higher levels of Poly-Chlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) and dioxins that do their wild-caught cousins. Research has shown that even a small amount of these compounds may cause irreparable brain development damage in children. Moreover, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has announced that ingesting more than a single serving of farm-raised salmon in a given week may cause a person to exceed the maximum intake level for these substances according to the World Health Organization. So many people eat salmon in an effort to be healthy and get those essential fatty acids found in this fish’s oil. Unfortunately they are being deceived because not only do these fishes have lower quality oils than their wild-caught cousins, but they also have tissues (meat) fed with potentially harmful substances.
INDONESIA known as a coffee-producing country. Indonesia also has a world-famous coffee. Why Indonesia known users of low quality coffee?
“Coffee in Indonesia using only copies of the lowest quality. Taken caffeine and coffee just the aroma alone to make instant coffee,” said Ronald Prasanto, during a visit to the editorial Okezone in highend Building, Jalan Kebon Sirih, Jakarta, recently.
Men who cultivate coffee in the field of molecular gastronomy is added, custom Indonesian who consume instant coffee is very unfortunate. In fact, the best coffee of Indonesia, such as Arabica, Robusta, and even civet coffee is exported to foreign countries.
With the techniques of molecular gastronomy, Ronald wanted to raise Indonesia’s coffee with a style that he has. In particular, to introduce to the world, if in Indonesia there are techniques of molecular gastronomy and can be applied to the original culinary Indonesia, particularly coffee.
For that, now Ronald with his fellow coffee lovers often meet and share information about coffee. He regretted that even if the school of hospitality and tourism in Indonesia only a few include curriculum about coffee.
“My sister is a school of hospitality school can be a lesson in coffee just two pieces, but I myself need to spend a couple of books,” he said.
In fact, in his experience, a hotel manager alone can not necessarily define specifications with cappucino coffee latte.
When women are looking for a fitness program you know they’re not just looking to ‘get fit’. Anyone who understands women knows that they always have more than one reason for doing anything. As women we want to get fit, but we also want to: lose weight, halt the effects of aging, improve our tone, improve our flexibility, look younger, be more attractive to the opposite sex and even more importantly help us look attractive enough to pass inspection by other women. There is some bad news for you who are fond of soda! More recently, there was a young man addicted to drink soda as to lose all his teeth, when he was aged 25 years.
As quoted Dailymail.co.uk, a man named William Kennewell from Australia and works as a staff at a hotel in the land of kangaroos that.
According to his testimony, he often ignores warning dentist who claimed that soft drinks can rot your teeth. As a result, he now no longer has teeth and wear full dentures at the age of 25 years.
Kennewell addiction to sugary drinks is even making himself suffered blood poisoning. “I drink between six and eight liters of soft drinks are mostly cola, every day,” said Kennewell.
“I was told that the normal person has about 23 teeth, but I only had 13 teeth and it all had to be removed,” he told The Advertiser.
Kennewell, who lives in Salisbury, 15 km north of Adelaide, adding, “This habit started because I did not like the water and worked in the hotel industry, which has easy access to drink coke.”
“Because my teeth were rotting so badly, I finally had blood poisoning and made me sick. But, my health improved with dentures. ”
Australian health experts are currently using Kennewell addiction as a case study to demonstrate why children should avoid fizzy drinks.
Dr. Jason Armfield, senior researcher at the Australian Research Centre for Population Oral Health, also called for health warnings on soft drink labels should include description of the risk of tooth decay.
Armfield also do as much research as 16,800 Australian children. As a result, he found that 56 percent of those aged between 5-16 years consuming at least one sugary drink – soft drink or juice – every day.
Our bodies react in different ways to the different types of food and supplements we consume. Taking an anabolic steroid has the potential to enhance your performance but you also need a good diet to help sustain your muscle growth and fitness level. The following foods are ideal for doing just that:
- Meat – as long as it’s lean. Weight lifting requires protein and lean meat is a fantastic source. However, red meat and processed red meat have been shown to have health risks, so going with protein sources such as chicken and turkey are the healthier choice.
- Dairy – as long as it’s low-fat. Not only does dairy have the muscle-building amino acids found in protein, it also has calcium which is ideal for both muscle and bone maintenance. Skim milk powder is a popular option for weight lifters. It can be easily added to protein shakes and also provides vitamin D, another important element in bone health.
- Seafood and fish-Oily fish such as salmon and sardines are a rich source of Omega-3 fatty acids which are extremely important for overall health, especially for the brain and heart. Shrimp and crab provide iodine, a mineral essential for body growth and development. Avoid large fish including shark, swordfish and tilefish which often have high concentrations of mercury and other pollutants.
- Vegetables – It’s not all about the meat and protein. Weightlifters still need plenty of a wide variety of vegetables in order to get the antioxidants and nutrients the body needs for energy and protection from free radical damage. Vegetables are packed with anti-cancer agents and are essential for good health.
- Red wine – A glass a day for women and two for men is perfect for getting the heart-healthy benefits of resveratrol and other antioxidants.
You can always buy anabolic steroids but be sure to eat a healthy diet for maximum effectiveness.
